Our Cause

MILLS WITHOUT BORDERS

is an initiative of the Bread Houses Network, whose mission is to connect in a free online network for support, ideas exchange, and cooperation mills, whose added value to the community includes: mills that have been converted into community social centers, cultural centers, museums, ecological education training centers, spaces for community milling (community mills), or simply old family mills that are still in use and help unite their community.

The vision for this platform was inspired by the world-wide travels of the founder of the Bread Houses Network, Dr. Nadezhda Savova-Grigorova, who was exploring bread-related traditions across cultures, and a few of her community projects engaged with the revival of old mills as community centers.

This platform is connected in mission and vision to our other global initiatives, such as: OVENS WITHOUT BORDERS, connecting community ovens around the globe; BAKERIES WITHOUT BORDERS, connecting social enterprises bakeries; BAKERS WITHOUT BORDERS, which is a network of people who love bread-making and use it in various social and cultural contexts as a tool for community transformation.

PLEASE, CONTACT US IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO ADD A MILL to this platform.

We will be happy to also TRAIN YOU IN OUR METHODS for art-based community baking and Bread Therapy for people with special needs, so you can organize creative community events at your mill!

Keep milling friendships!
